Would you like to become a mindfulness meditation teacher?

Become a mindfulness meditation teacher with this five module mindfulness teacher training course and share the joy of mindfulness meditation with others.

This course will train you to develop the necessary skills for delivering mindfulness meditation classes, to students. You will receive guidance in delivering numerous mindfulness meditations. In addition, experience has shown that as a result of this course, participants have grown considerably in self awareness and thereby increased their own spiritual growth.

By taking part in this course and deepening your mindfulness and meditation practice you will enable others to embark on this beautiful path as well and help them gain a more mindful lifestyle and greater quality of life. Furthermore, you will be making a significant contribution to the evolution of consciousness and help raise consciousness in our society, to a wiser and more compassionate level.

This gathering is a sacred space for anybody wishing to share, discuss and ask about anything, in relation to spiritual practice in your daily life and for developing purity of mind and heart. It is an opportunity to meet like-minded people.

During this monthly spiritual gathering, we reflect on and discuss some spiritual teachings, meditate, chant and join together and sing spiritual songs.

We usually meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 19:00 until 21:00 (sometimes it changes depending on the needs of the group). Donations to Amma’s charity are welcome.

Mindfulness meditation can help you reduce your anxiety and depression and assist you in recognising your habitual thinking patters and your conditioned behaviours, in order to help you free yourself from them. In this way mindfulness meditation can increase your overall well-being.

Mindfulness practice also offers your a space to step outside your perceived hurts, aversions, fears and illusions and enables you to simply observe them, as they arise and as they leave. In this way you learn to manage your emotions.

Mindfulness is about focusing your awareness in the present moment and help you live a fuller life. Most of our time is spent in our minds, either in the past or in the future. There is no such thing as past or future. Life happens in the present moment. Think about it, when the past came it was in the present and when the future comes, it will come in the present moment. Unless we live in the present moment, we are not living life fully.

Mindfulness enables you to see things as they happen in each moment, without judgment. Mindfulness is truly an art that needs to be learned, as we are not usually taught to live mindfully in each moment. We are usually not aware of what our mind and our body is doing in each moment.

By learning mindfulness you will learn positive new skills that have a direct effect upon your daily life. Mindfulness consists both of formal (meditation) and informal practices (bringing attentive awareness into your daily life). If you would like to be fully present to your life, then mindfulness could be for you.

Reiki 2 at Living in the Light

Would you like to become a Reiki practitioner?

This Reiki 2 - Okuden course is a practitioners course. This course will give you the knowledge and skill required to give reiki confidently and professionally to others, upon completion.

On this course you will receive 3 Reiju empowerments and 1 attunement. You will learn how to do self and partner healing with the Okuden kotodama and also learn the Western way of doing self-healing and partner healing, with the second degree Reiki symbols. You will also be introduced to the concept of oneness. This will give you the opportunity to help others by carrying out distance healing sessions.

Usui said that “If our spirit is healthy and comformed to the truth, body will get healthy naturally. Reiki Ryoho’s missions are to lead peaceful and happy life, heal others and improve happiness of others and ourselves.”

Would you like to learn Reiki in Essex?

Reiki 1 - Shoden is a lovely beginners course and can be the start of a beautiful healing journey. Learn the art of healing in Little Clacton and begin your journey into deep relaxation and harmony within…. On this course you will learn both Original Usui Reiki and Western Reiki techniques. You will receive 4 attunements on day one and reiju (origininal initiation) on day two of the course.

The course contains both theory and the practical aspects of Reiki. You will guided to carry out self and partner healing sessions on both days. Meditation and the introduction to mindfulness are also part of this course. As per Usui’s intention for Reiki, this course is designed to promote self-healing and aimed at your spiritual development.

Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki said that “Each and every being has an innate ability to heal as a gift from the gods.”

Would you like to become a Reiki Master and teach Reiki?

Train to become a Shinpiden Reiki Master - an Original Usui Reiki Master and Western Reiki Master, with this Reiki masters course. You will gain an understanding of what is required to become a genuine Reiki master and be taught all the essentials to teach Reiki to others. The afternoon of this course is spent in practicing and perfecting Reiki initiations, so that you will be sure of why and how initiations are carried out.

Monthly Meditation Group

Would you like to participate in monthly group meditation meetings, online?

The monthly meditation meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month, live on Zoom. The monthly meditation meetings are open to anybody who has undertaken a mindfulness meditation course at Living in the Light or elsewhere or to those who are regular meditators, from any tradition. We look forward to welcoming you.

These meetings are a great way for you to join like minded people, in the healthy habit of regular meditation, with the added benefit of group support. It will enable you to build and deepen your meditation practice. We usually cover some topics that will enable you to grow spiritually and each of the guided meditations are about 25 - 30 minutes long.

Meeting hours are 19:30 - 21:00. Cost of each monthly meditation group meeting is £10.

An opportunity to give yourself some quality ‘me’ time. On this retreat you will be able to unwind, relax, meditate, let go of stress and come into the present moment.

The participants will spend most of the day in silent reflection during this day, whilst being guided in many mindfulness meditations, by Katarina Tilley. By entering stillness and silence, you will be able to restore your inner peace. You will also be able to discover many of your mind’s patterns.

The retreat consists of sitting meditations on chairs or mats, a lying down meditation, a walking meditation, an active meditation etc.

1 Day Mindfulness Retreat at Living in the Light, in Little Clacton, near Colchester, Essex.

A wonderful day just for you, to relax, rebalance and restore.

The entire day will be led by myself, who will guide you in each of the sitting and active meditations, there will be a walking meditation, mindfulness practice and reflection. You will also be able eat mindfully in silence, to really experience the food.

It is recommended that you remain in silence the entire day, until the end of the retreat, when you will be able to share your experiences of your day, with the other participants.

Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome.

I attended the Power of your Loving Heart workshop with Katarina some time ago now. I suppose I went along out of curiosity and because I love group meditation. I had been meditating with Katarina and others in a group for some time and felt ready to explore how much more I could truly open my heart.

The workshop was full of all sorts of people with different hopes and fears. What I most remember is how beautiful the meditations felt, yes felt. I could feel my heart opening and synching with others in the room and beyond.

I still remember to tune into my heart as often as I can in this busy and distracting world. It helps to remind me of what is real and what is in the mind.
